History Of The Firm

GSPCPA History

Getzel Schiff & Pesce, LLP is a full service Certified Public Accounting firm offering traditional accounting and tax services, with an emphasis on management advisory services.

Getzel, Caspari & Schiff, LLP, the immediate predecessor to GSP was established in November 2000 by the merger of two Certified Public Accounting Firms - Jeffrey A. Getzel & Company, LLP and Harvey Caspari, CPA.   Jeffrey A. Getzel & Company, LLP has roots, which can be traced to the mid 1940's when Louis Gevirtz, a former partner of Jeffrey A. Getzel began to practice as a sole practitioner.  In 1977, Jeffrey A. Getzel, CPA merged his practice with Louis Gevirtz.  Louis Gevirtz retired from the firm December 31, 1979.  Jack R. Schiff, CPA was admitted to the firm of Jeffrey A. Getzel & Company, LLP as a partner on January 1, 1995.  He has worked at the Company since his graduation from college, June 1987.

Jeffrey A. Getzel & Company was desirous of expanding their client base, while at the same time; Harvey B. Caspari was desirous of expanding services to his client base and eventually planning his retirement.  Thus the talents of the two firms merged effective November 1, 2000.  To foster the merger, Harvey B. Caspari relocated his practice to Woodbury, NY.  Harvey B. Caspari, CPA had been a sole practitioner since 1978.  Harvey retired from the practice of public accounting in October 2003.

In January 2010, Christopher Pesce, CPA formerly a partner in the firm of Samuel Cohen & Company, CPAs merged his practice into Getzel Schiff & Pesce, LLP, and became a senior partner in the firm.
